Assignments
Students will critically read and analyze the assigned books. Students must read each book and participate in the discussion. Before each class, each student is required to post several paragraphs of commentary. DO NOT SUMMARIZE THE BOOK, but comment on what you found interesting, provocative, or questionable in the week's reading. They are due by 8 AM the day of the class, but as discussed it makes more sense if we post them earlier so we can have time to discuss.
Posting
It would satisfy my type-A inclinations if everyone followed a similar format for posting and followed some general rules. I love creative titles but for the sake of sanity, please give us some context. Is this something I NEED to read for class or can I come back and look at when I'm bored? Also, LABEL your posts with the title of the book you are commenting on. This way we can filter the posts according to title. Add the label "Just for Fun" if you find an interesting article that you'd like to share with the group. I can't of much by way of rules but (and this mostly applies to Matt) let's not get kicked off our hosting site by using foul language.
